Education: Prison Reform

Crime imposes a significant burden on Americans’ well-being and tax-financed resources.

These costs are amplified by a cycle of crime that results in re-arrest rates for released American prisoners in excess of 50 percent.

Rigorous and evidence-based prison reforms are proposed to break the crime cycle, thereby reducing future crime and lowering incarceration expenditures by facilitating more successful re-entry upon prison release.

What is prison reform:
Prisoners should support themselves in prison though industry, in anticipation of supporting themselves outside prison; outside businesses and labor must not interfere; indeterminate sentences were required, making prisoners earn their release with constructive behavior, not just the passage of time; and education and a Christian culture should be imparted.

In 1786, the state of Pennsylvania passed a law which mandated that all convicts who had not been sentenced to death would be placed in penal servitude to do public works projects such as building roads, forts, and mines.

Besides the economic benefits of providing a free source of hard labor, the proponents of the new penal code also thought that this would deter criminal activity by making a conspicuous public example of consequences of breaking the law.

Punishment is any change in a human or animal’s surroundings that occurs after a given behavior or response which reduces the likelihood of that behavior occurring again in the future.

Mass incarceration has a powerful negative influence on communities (particularly poor communities), creating broken families, economic disenfranchisement, and increases in criminal activity.

Education: hunting

it’s important to learn about the different hunting options, so that you can choose the method that you’ll enjoy the most.

Evidence from western Kenya suggests that hunting has been occurring for more than two million years.

Butchery is a traditional line of work. In the industrialized world, slaughterhouses use butchers to slaughter the animals, performing one or a few of the steps repeatedly as specialists on a semiautomated disassembly line.

The steps include
stunning (rendering the animal incapacitated)
exsanguination (severing the carotid or brachial arteries to facilitate blood removal)
evisceration (removing the viscera)
splitting (dividing the carcass in half longitudinally)

One of my greatest priorities is to reduce the price of prescription drugs

Lower-cost drugs are kept out of the market by drug companies gaming regulatory processes and the patent system in order to unfairly maintain monopolies.
The United States pays more than 70 percent of branded drug profits among OECD countries.

For the first time ever, in 2011, global spending on prescription drugs topped $954 billion, even as growth slowed somewhat in Europe and North America.

U.S. prices for the world’s 20 top-selling medicines are, on average, three times higher than in Britain, according to an analysis carried out for Reuters.

The supply of a newer medicine is controlled entirely by the drug manufacturer that holds the patent rights.

That gives the manufacturer a monopoly on the drug for the 20-year life of the patent.

During that time, it is free to raise the price as frequently and as much as the market will bear.

What is social media

Social media are computer-mediated tools that allow people or companies to create, share, or exchange information, career interests, ideas, and pictures/videos in virtual communities and networks.

Children are being sent to live with grandparents or other family members when a parent overdoses or displays other problems, a growing number are being placed in the foster-care system, which in many states is struggling to keep up with demand.

A role model is a person whose behavior, example, or success is or can be emulated by others, especially by younger people.
