Thinking Out Loud: Universities are Social Networks

published by: Alec One

What is a university?

  • Institution of higher learner.

My Understanding:

What if universities could all level up the services they provide their customers? I believe they can if they create the proper social networks for people to create useful connections for personal enhancement.

Currently people choose the school they want to go to based on the reputation of the school. The name of the school is a signal for others to determine what kind of social network you have access too.

This behavior can be seen through the social interactions between people. For example, when people first meet, they participate in a kind of dance through a questions and answers sessions. Questions are asked like where do you live, what do you do for work and where did you go to school?

These questions are really asking what social networks do you come from. This is a kind of epiphany for me.

  • If institutions are social networks, then are high performing networks reproducible?

The high performing networks I am referencing are “schools” like the Harvard’s or the Stanford’s of the world. The “communities” that people dream of living in. The “families” people have always wanted. These kinds of “social networks” I believe are reproducible in any environment.

What is an entrepreneur:

  • Someone who takes on and manages the risk of solving human issues.

These social networks are also used to create links to the entrepreneur community. Entrepreneur communities are always thinking about how to better serve people’s needs. This is how entrepreneur’s earn a living.

If I where an entrepreneur, I would ask myself:

  • What are the needs I can work on in a particular kind of community?

This is the link of how to replicate templates of perceived successful communities.

If I use the framework of the entrepreneur community, who search for ways to better serve people, then all I have to do is observe, meet others and create relationships to discover people’s needs.

There are not enough high performing social networks for people to connect with.

Create applications that replicate the attributes of the high performing social networks.

Examples of social networks:

  • Relationships
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Community
  • School
  • Security
  • Health
  • Fitness

My Understanding:

An entrepreneur of a university creates the culture of a “kind of” university community that is different from being in an alumna association.

A university entrepreneur builds a social network on the internet through a web domain and links to the social network platforms people use to connect.

This can be started at the level of the individual. One person can build a template. Then establish an internet connection. Build a website. Connect to social networks. Connect digitally or real-time with individuals in the network through communication applications. Generate seeds to establish relationship links.

What I described above can be distilled down into terms like community organizers. Basically people or job titles who attempt to connect people (relationships, family, friends, teams, missionaries, alum, corporations) with eachother.

Social Network Developer Function: party orginizer

How to build a community:

  • Create a website connection of the community you want to estabish. For example: I created the Facebook page for Bridgeview Tribe.
  • Introduce yourself to local neighbors.
  • Establish a date to connect as neighbors. This begins the anchoring process for relationship establishment.
  • Create relevant content for digital social network.
  • Repeat process in different environments.

Thinking Out Loud: Project Senate Class Developer

What is a Senate Class Developer?

    • A person who creates, contributes, develops, to Open Source Projects.

    Why is this important?

    • I am getting older and I want to contribute my wealth (time) to the public.

This idea popped into my head as I was watching the Senate hearings, the Legislative hearings, the Intelligence hearings and the medias reporting on these topics.

I was disappointed that I didn’t have access to the kind of knowledge being discussed in public hearings through the media. The arguments being made by some and the talking  points being repeated by others was such a baddass experience to me.

Witnessing the intellectual chess moves being played by the Legislators was more fun to observe than listening to the pundits. These hearings contained important information for me to understand.

Here is a bill presented in Congress. This bill wants to remove the old law of the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care act” with a plan that promotes “Patient Centered Health Care.”

What legislatorsadministrators, and judges do effect my life. And whenever you get to the stage in life when you care about the future, you’ve obviously hit the stage of being an old man. So this is how I would see my Merlin Archetype could be.

My conclusion is I want to build a tool, for myself, that will allow me to be civic minded but in cyberspace.

    What do you mean?

Its my responsibility, as a member of team people, to cultivate human knowledge. All open source areas must be cultivated by the public. Open source software is the public domains intellectual property and because it’s ours to nurture, we must create institutions that can maintain the public’s legacy.

The internet is our public library. Our ancestors provided the seed money to the government to create the environment that our internet would emerge from.

It is now my responsibility to add to the legacy of team people. Im putting my mind down digitally because this is my version of playing and wearing the mask of a leader. And it’s safe to do because I have only one person to lead in my universe, which is me.

This is beginning of a new lifestyle framework for those who want to contribute and become part of the great conversation of life.

    Lifestyle class:

    • We are all editors and publishers now.
    • We are all librarians and researchers now.
    • We are all educators and students now.

I’ve asked myself “what do I want to do when I grow up?” I now have an answer. I’m going to play and add to the human knowledge database or what we call the internet.

The fastest way to enter this lifestyle is contribute to Open Source projects. The beauty of these lifestyle choices are the barrier of entry is network access. Which all public libraries provide.

Libraries provide computers for the public. Once you’re online, you can easily start contributing to cultivating your legacy. Leave your mark on the server. You’ve got time to do this because you’re decadent as phuk.

    Senate Class Developer Titles:

    • Wikipedia Editor
    • Open Source Software Developer
    • Open Source Network Security Developer (cyber security developer)
    • Open Source Enterprise Projects (education, health care, insurance, contracts aka Bitcoin)

Thinking Out Loud: What is gender?

        What is: Gender?

Historically the word #gender has been used by #teampeople to place human objects in a specific kind of container for identification purposes.

I thank the classical Romans for providing the seeds of this particular word.

Gender, “literally” is linked to #genus and genus is the #Latin word that translates to “race, stock, kind, family; birth, descent, origin.”

Now that I have a better understanding of the #first meanings of the word gender, I better appreciate how people use the word presently.

Words are tools teampeople use to project our minds to others. If that sentence seemed kind of weird, then just close your eyes and imagine what gender looks like to you, personally.

        Questions to imagine:

        • How does your minds eye view gender?
        • What pictures float by in your mind as you scan for an image that would represent gender to you?
        • What are the kinds of images?
        • When a child is born what would you tell the parents?

These are fascinating questions to think about. Some can argue we are currently living through a culture war. I agree with this statement in form only. Only because people create, define, and use words as tools. And Teampeople are master tool makers.

Culture is a kind of tool that organizes people into groups. Words are a kind of tool that define meaning to objective and subjective reality. Culture and words are the only elements necessary to start a culture war among teampeople.

The continuous War of Identity Politics:

I would argue teampeople have been dealing with issues of identity the moment #language emerged.

Teampeople label the world with words for many important reasons. Labels provide structure and organization. If the word being used as a tool works, then the word will be “picked up” and used by people.

        Self Analysis:

I was “triggered” to set my thoughts down and to look at them in this piece I’m writing.

        Why? The era of decadents

Because I am alive during the era of decadents. After carefull observations I predict certain thinking frameworks are going through states of decay. Certain ways of seeing reality are being challenged by teampeople.

        Mic Drop:

The process and outcomes of these challenges are what I enjoy observing. I’ll close my mind now with a different question:

        • What kind of future world will present teampeople help shape for future teampeople?

Thinking Out Loud: President Trump tweet and Snoop Dogg analysis

          President Trump Tweet:

          Public Response:

I’m starting to believe critical thinking, when it pertains to someone you don’t like personally, has blinded many people.
When will people stop attacking the “person” called “President” Trump and start looking at the “laws” being talked about?

          • Read, which literally means in Proto-Germanic, “to advice, counsel, guess.”

When you read a Trump tweet, look at the words he uses…

          Tweet content:

“Imagine the outcry (public response) if Snoop Dogg pointed a gun at President Obama?

People would want “Jail time” for the person who displayed such open public disrespect to the “President of the United States.”

Potentially followed by a claim that pointing a gun at the President Obama is a racist gesture because Obama is a person of color (poc: a human being that is a product result of a light skinned person and a dark skinned person).

Is this a fair statement to make?

I read the tweet as an analysis of the double standards people have for a certain kind of person.

But then again, I have a different moral framework from others.

          • I believe in liberty.
          • I believe in the rule of law.
          • I believe cultures have different values.
          • I believe western culture is a culture that emerged as the most important kind of culture, the culture in which the free world we Westerners live in presently.

          Thought Experiment:

Imagine living in a place where the religious beliefs of a particular group are the framework society is designed to live by.

          • What kind of freedoms would the individual have?
          • Would all woman be able to act how they individually choose to act or would the group decide?
          • What would the LGBTQ community look like?

Imagine living in a place where a person was elected and refused to give up power after their term limit.

          • Would people appreciate the rights and responsibilities of being individually free better or worse?

I’m pretty sure my words are meaningless to most people privileged to have been born in America. I’m just thinking out loud and sharing my inner thoughts with the people in cyberspace.

Now let’s continue to communicate the ideas which unite Western Civilization. Which, by default, are the Values America was built and designed to protect.

Thinking Out Loud: We are all public figures now and we better get good at it quick.

          What is a public figure?

Art is a powerful tool. People use art as a medium to express and exchange ideas with other people.

I’ve learned so much from art. I’m enjoying the series TPVSOJS and there is a baddass scene where one of the Lawyer archetypes was analyzing the methods of how a public figure should present themselves to the world. His analysis is what inspired me to think out loud.

What new skills must be developed?

          • Entertaining ways to create, produce, and communicate ideas with others.

We, the public figures, have the tools to be the ring masters of our personal media circus. This is a powerful skill to master for a person who lives in Cyberspace

          Why is this important?

We have the ability to share our minds with others in an entertaining way using the tools of the internet. The moment you publish anything online you have technically become a public figure.

And the public environment has rules for public figures to learn and master.

Why should I master these rules?

Because the tools of the internet have created a hyper-connected public space where every person connected has the ability to create, produce, publish, and share their narrative of reality.

We have the ability to be the creators of our personal media realities. The technology in cyberspace levels the barrier of entry into the media industry fields and allows everyone online a platform to openly connect personalized media content with others.

          How does this affect me?

          • Perceptions of reality are relative.
          • People want to be entertained.
          • Alternate theories of reality are spread using tools people create for communication.

          Potential Solutions:

          • People share in narrative form their perceptions of the reality they choose.
          • People become hybrids of producers and users of entertainment.
          • People default to open and disclose the foundations of the perceptions of their personal reality using the tools of the internet.

The problem is something that we, being people, will always have to deal with because that’s just part of the human condition. And to be honest, the problem isn’t as bad as some would perceive.

Why this problem isn’t so bad?

Because most people live in environments that are specially designed for our well being. If we lived naturally, like other lifeforms fighting for survival do, then we wouldn’t be living in the kind of world that has national safety networks, construction networks, food distribution networks, energy grid networks and global communication networks to name a few.

For most living things, life is hard. Ask yourself this question. How many whales do you see building refrigerators to store their food in? I would bet you 50 cents the answer has a very good chance of being none.

Most other lifeforms spend their entire existence feeding, fighting, and attempting to sexually reproduce. I dont see too many other lifeforms with the luxury of having the skills and time to develop an environment that a person would want to exist in. In fact, it’s people who observe the behavior and patterns of other living things to learn from and better our existence.

Unlike Locust, most people have moved beyond those trivial problems of having enough food for basic survival

Unlike Mountain Gorillas, most people have moved beyond the fear of having no place safe to live for basic survival.

Unlike Pandas, most people can choose if they want to sexually reproduce or not.  And, btw, having sex for pleasure, without the goal of reproduction doesn’t effect basic human survival.

          Why is this so powerful?

The tools of the internet give people tremendous power to become something better. Seeing those words reminds me of what Uncle Ben use to say “with great powers comes great responsibility.” Well thanks for the solid advice Uncle Ben. I will be responsible in how I will conduct myself in Cyberspace.

Lesson Source: The People vs OJ Simpson: An American Crime Story.

          • If there is going to be a media circus, then you better be the ring master.

This sentence made my brain smile because it clearly defines what the state and purpose of living in America means now. We all have the ability to be the masters of our personal media circus. We all have the ability to provide the narrative of our lives to the world.

The tools the internet provides are powerful enough to build personal cyberdomain empires. For example, WordPress is a tool that encourages people to share their minds with others freely. The tools within WordPress gives people the publishing ability of William Randolph Hearst

William Randolph Hearst was one of the influencers of the news people read and by default he influenced reality.

The reality of William Randolph Hearst is now the default mode for everyone who has access to the tools of the internet.

Historically the purpose of life was to create a better world than we are born in. I am on team people, and I accept this mission.

Youtube Reaction: Reason TV Fake News

The term “fake” news exploded onto the American scene during the 2016 Presidential election Games.

          What fake news does?

Example: true, false or somewhere in between?

          What fake news is?

          • Hoaxes
          • Propaganda
          • Disinformation
          • Misinformation
          • Omitted information

Example: true, false or somewhere in between?

The fracturing of mainstream media has been interesting to observe and experience from the safety of San Diego.

I find myself thinking out loud and asking:

          • How do you get information about specific events?
          • How do you test if the information you are getting is true or false?
          • How do you read through the noise of crowded media platforms?

People use to trust the media. People use to trust the information they were told was something that would assist them in life.

Now we just have news entertainment. Which in my opinion isn’t a bad thing.

I enjoy being entertained by news that will make me a better person. I hate when certain methods of delivering news are used to manipulate my emotions into negative states such as fear, sadness, anger, and hate.

The exercise below is a thinking tool that can potentially enhance your personal news hunting and gathering.
